THE DILEMMAS OF MUSIC AS A BLACK IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION PROCESS IN THE SOCIAL REALITY OF CONGADO

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the dilemmas and contradictions in the process of construction of black identity, through music, from the social reality of Congado. The analysis will be carried out through the theoretical line of Cultural Studies, using the dialectical method and the approach of cultural analysis. The proposal is to understand music from cultural materialism and underground memory to verify how black men and women build their productions of meaning in one of the expressive forms of Congado. The music delineates the meanings of black people's existence and the resistance struggle against a structural power that violates them.
